Our Journey to Creating the Flipping Holder & KiddyTrek
The Spark of Inspiration
Welcome to KiddyTrek (from the makers of the Flipping Holder), where convenience meets innovation, and parenting becomes a little easier. I’m Leah, a mom of four, former lawyer, and the proud inventor of the Flipping Holder. My journey to creating this product began with a messy yet enlightening experience on an airplane ride with my one-year-old son.
As any parent knows, getting out and about with little ones can be both joyful and daunting. It was during one of these adventures that one of my sons managed to turn a simple food pouch into a chaotic mess. The overwhelm of being on a plane, covered in puree while profusely apologizing to the patron next to us who was also victim to the splatter – well that’s a moment you, as a parent, might just understand all too well! After that, I was determined to find a solution to this one common parenting predicament. I set out to create something that would not only contain the mess but also make feeding on the go effortless.
A Leap of Faith
I developed the initial concept of the Flipping Holder in 2013, and revised it over 3 years while using prototypes with my first two children. We first put the Flipping Holder in the hands of other parents in 2016.
At the time I was a fulltime attorney. Starting a business while raising two sons, and being pregnant with a third, was not easy, but I was excited. Year after year I was flooded with positive encouragement from our customers – they loved the Flipping Holder, and loved the peace of mind it provided.
After my fourth child was born in 2019, Flipping Holder hit its stride and a few years later I was able to focus solely on serving our Flipping Holder parent-customers. Leaving behind my 14-year legal career wasn’t an easy decision, but my dedication to improving the lives of parents through practical solutions was unwavering. Thanks to each of our customers, we have been able to establish Flipping Holder right here in Lakeville, Minnesota, where we proudly manufacture our classic Flipping Holder, and where we package and ship all orders.
Expanding Flipping Holder into KiddyTrek
As a company, our mission goes beyond just creating the Flipping Holder. We’re committed to supporting parents like us who crave flexibility and balance in their lives. That’s why our team consists of fellow parents who understand the importance of being present for their families while pursuing their passions.
The journey from a rough idea to a finished product was filled with countless prototypes, late nights, and invaluable feedback from fellow parents. Each stage of development brought me closer to a product that I knew would make a real difference.
Now that I am dedicated full-time to this company, we are taking our product innovations to the next level. The Flipping Holder is just one product in our broader lineup intended to make parents’ lives easier. I cannot wait to show you some of the innovative products I’ve been using with my family of six as my children went from baby to toddler to teenagers.
